YEREVAN. – The session of the National Assembly (NA) Council did not take place, the session was postponed, it will take place tomorrow. Edmon Marukyan, head of the opposition Bright Armenia faction, said this at today's meeting with reporters in the NA.

Marukyan said that the majority My Step faction had petitioned to postpone the session and discuss the issue tomorrow. "We all agreed, there was a consensus, so the session was postponed," he added.

My Step did not give a reason, just that the author of the bill has requested to postpone the session.

If the sitting is tomorrow, the NA especial sitting will be held on February 6.

As for the content of the draft to be discussed, Marukyan stated that they have many concerns regarding the upholding of the principles of the rule of law.

"The draft contains seemingly unconstitutional norms," he said. “But we are ready to hear the author's justifications.”

NA Vice Speaker Alen Simonyan, in his turn, noted that there was a matter of technical correction.

Asked if there is a problem with the content, Simonyan said he does not think so.

The NA Vice Speaker said he does not rule out that the opposition may join their initiative during the discussions, as it is another chance for the correction of the coordinators.
