The My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia is proposing to hold a pan-national referendum. This is what author of the bill on constitutional amendments Vahagn Hovakimyan declared during a discussion on the bill on making amendments to the Constitution held as part of the special parliamentary session today.

He stated that the My Step faction won’t adopt the bill in the first reading, but will propose to hold a referendum for the bill, in accordance with point 3 of Article 202 of the Constitution. According to him, this is exactly what direct democracy is all about.
