The President could have applied to the Constitutional Court, but he didn’t choose this option. This is what deputy of the Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly Taron Simonyan told reporters during a briefing today.

According to him, the Bright Armenia faction made its decision clear during the vote. “The faction will convene a special session to consider the issue and decide what the faction will be doing until the day of the referendum for the constitutional amendments. I don’t know when the session will be held, but the faction will issue a statement,” he said.

When asked if the issue of the referendum can be disputed through the judges of the Constitutional Court, the deputy said the following: “The President had the right to apply to the Constitutional Court and one fifth of the Members of Parliament.”
