Solving the March 1 murders requires political will, Manvel Badeyan, member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on European Integration, Parliament of Armenia, told journalists April 21. He is not informed of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan`s speech, when he ordered law-enforcers to give new impetus to the March 1 2008 case. A new ad hoc committee may be formed to investigate the March 1 case, but it must not pursue political goals, Badeyan said.
In response to Armenian News-NEWS.am`s remark that the most serious issue, identifying the organizers of the murders, remains unsolved, Badeyan said: "It is identifying the criminals that requires political will. Law-enforcers must be ordered to complete the investigation and solve the case." Some people both in the power-holding structures and in the opposition camp are concerned with the March 1 2008 case being "swept under the rug," he added.
