Ankara continues intensive contacts with Washington regarding President Obama’s statement marking April 24 – Remembrance Day of the Armenian Genocide victims, reports Turkish TRT television.

“Ankara hopes U.S. administration will adopt unbiased and impartial stance conforming to high level of bilateral relations,” the representative of the Turkish foreign office Selcuk Unal said. “Turkey is sensitive to Armenians’ assertions at all levels.”

The Turkish official also commented on a film about the Armenian Genocide screened in Iran.  Unal noted that Turkey has taken all necessary measures. According to him, Iranian officials have assured they will not support such initiatives.

Commenting on monument to victims of the Armenian Genocide to be erected in Geneva, Unal said it is an initiative of municipality and Ankara has no information about support of the official authorities.
