YEREVAN. - At those rare historical moments when relations between Turks and Armenians were peaceful, they developed by the following model: Armenians were “raya” that is “cattle” while Turks were owners, Head of Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) Vahan Hovhannisyan stated in the Armenian National Assembly, during presentation of a book on Armenia-Turkey relations.

“This is the only model of relations Turks and Armenians can coexist peacefully. When Armenians opposed this model, Armenian Genocide was committed,” Hovhannisyan noted. 

According to him, the Armenian society has not yet formed an integral notion about the essence of Armenian-Turkish relations. In this regard, the MP stressed the need to increase budget funding for propaganda expenses for the world to better know the essence of Armenia-Turkey relations, Ankara’s true intentions and the Armenian Genocide. 

In his turn, ARFD member, Chairman of Standing Committee on Foreign relations, Armenian Parliament, Armen Rustamyan stressed that normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations went beyond the political agenda of both countries and was included in the international agenda. Meanwhile, he added there are no prospects either for a swift resolution of the Karabakh conflict or Armenia-Turkey rapprochement.
