YEREVAN. - The Armenian-Turkish protocols, signed in Zurich on October 10, 2009, are a serious obstacle to international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Head of the Hay Dat office for political affairs, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D), Giro Manoyan told at a press conference on Saturday.

It is the point on a committee of historians that is a pretext for the nations unwilling to recognize that crime against humanity, Manoyan said. The Armenian-Turkish protocols are also a “solid” basis for Ankara to ling the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process with Armenian-Turkish reconciliation.

“Considering the above, it is unclear why Yerevan does not withdraw its signatures,” Manoyan said.

According to Manoyan, Armenia must make the following two demands on Turkey: admission of the Armenian Genocide and restitution. More attention has been paid to the second demand in the last year due to Hay Dat.

“The two processes must go on in parallel with each other,” he added.

As to what may make Turkey admit the Armenian Genocide, Manoyan said that it may be international pressure or changed mentality, “which is now taking place under external influence.”
