YEREVAN. - Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian reproached Turkey for disrespect towards the international community, Nalbandian stated at a joint press conference with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule in Yerevan today.

Speaking of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s recent interview to one of the Armenian media outlets, Nalbandian said he did not consider there was positive momentum in the interview. According to him, Davutoglu reiterated his usual phrases and set preconditions. Consequently, Turkey does not respect its commitments, as well as the international community, which says the Armenia-Turkey accords should be ratified without any preconditions, he noted.

“What will Turkey achieve with this approach?  I think it will achieve nothing,” Nalbandian stressed.

On October 10, 2009, in Zurich, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Turkey signed the “Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations” and “Protocol for the development of bilateral relations”, which needed to be ratified by the parliaments of the two countries. However, it did not happen due to Ankara’s non-constructive position.
