Japanese automakers are forced to suspend the operation of their plants amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the NHK TV channel reported.
This is primarily due to the decline in car sales in the country. Honda announced the suspension of its two plants in Saitama Prefecture for four days and in July for one day as well as the plant in Mie Prefecture for three days in July, RIA Novosti reported.
Mitsubishi announced the suspension of its subsidiary's plant in Gifu Prefecture from June 2 to 30 and the Aichi plant from June 2 to 15 and from June 23 to 30.
