Asteroid to pass by Earth the day before US presidential elections

An asteroid will pass by Planet Earth a day before the US presidential elections, The Independent reports, citing NASA.

According to NASA, there is 0.41% chance that the asteroid will collide with the planet.

The asteroid, which is named 2018VP1 and was first spotted by scientists at Palomar Observatory in 2018, isn’t considered ‘a potentially dangerous object’ due to the small size (the asteroid’s diameter is only 0.002 km).
