US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed the hope that other Arab countries will also establish diplomatic relations with Israel, AP reported.

Speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, Pompeo noted that Arab countries have the opportunity to work side by side, recognize the state of Israel and work with it, which will not only increase stability in the Middle East but also improve the lives of the people in their own countries.

Both Pompeo and Netanyahu criticized the lack of international support for the US demand for the restoration of UN sanctions on Iran. 

“I am hopeful that we will see other Arab nations join in this," Pompeo said. “The opportunity for them to work alongside, to recognize the state of Israel and to work alongside them will not only increase Middle East stability, but it will improve the lives for the people of their own countries as well.”

Israel and the UAE have announced a diplomatic deal that also requires Israel to freeze its annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank.
