The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States has recommended that the authorities and five major cities prepare plans for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in late October or early November, TASS reported citing The New York Times.

Its reporters got acquainted with the documents that were sent out by the TsKPZ on August 27. On the same day, US President Donald Trump announced that the development of a vaccine in the US could be completed by the end of this year.

The CDC recommended that the authorities of all American states, as well as New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, and San Antonio, prepare to distribute the two types of vaccine to medical workers and the most vulnerable groups of citizens. The latter includes people aged over 65, ethnic and racial minorities, and prisoners.

As follows from the report, the CDC recognized that the plan is hypothetical.

Experts interviewed by the newspaper's reporters expressed fears that the Trump administration may seek approval of the vaccine in the country before the presidential elections for political purposes. According to Johns Hopkins University, over 6.1 million COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the United States, more than 185.6 thousand people have died.
