Turkish officials refuted information “on a setback in efforts to normalize relations with neighboring Armenia and say bilateral protocols will be signed on Oct. 10 as planned”, Turkish Zaman daily reports.
However, according to the same source, this course of events cannot be entirely denied. The daily quotes one of Turkish officials: “The reason for the delay in releasing the announcement is completely logistical, as Swiss officials have still been working on making a final decision on the precise time and venue of the ceremony as well as on a list of probable invitees. We are ready to pack up on Saturday morning and head for Switzerland for the ceremony.”
Zaman also cites the statement of the RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan in his interview with Agence France-Presse: “We have been determined during the whole process, and we are determined now to go forward. We hope the Turkish leadership will demonstrate the same will in the coming days and months.”
