YEREVAN. – Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan said he considered economic policy the most important step during his rule. He noted about this at a meeting Thursday with a group of youth.

"At that time we [Armenia] were a country with a budget of only 300 million, the GDP—1 billion 800 million, per capita—560 dollars. To speak of some noble ideas, democracy, freedoms in such poverty? The task was first of all to feed the people, to raise the standard of living to such a level that the other steps will be clearer," said the former president.
