The Azerbaijani side is seeking withdrawal of Armenian forces from Aghdam and Fizuli regions at the initial stage, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister  Elmar Mammadyarov stated.

According to him, “the withdrawal of snipers from the line of contact should be considered in the context of withdrawal of Armenian troops from occupied territories,” SalamNews reports referring to ANS TV.

“Armenians claim to withdraw snipers. These words cause laughter. Snipers did not come to the frontline themselves to be withdrawn. The main issue is deployment of the Armenian forces in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. We must ensure the removal of Armenian troops according to a plan, backed by a specific timetable. We are holding discussions. Either we will conclude a peace agreement or will reach a conflict resolution step by step. The Armenian troops should be withdrawn from Aghdam and Fizuli regions at the first stage. This is our position. Later, the other 5 regions should be liberated,” Mammadyarov said.
