The signature of Turkish Foreign Minster Ahmet Davutoglu under the Protocols to normalize relations with Armenia will “change Turkey”, said Hugh Pope, senior analyst at the International Crisis Group and author of books on Turkey.

According to him, hence Turkey will deal with its own history becoming “a valuable partner for the West”.

“Not having a relationship with Armenia hobbles Turkey's role in the Caucasus,” deems Pope. He believes Turkey’s dialogue with Armenia will also benefit Ankara's plans to join the European Union.

Today, October 10, at 8 p.m. Yerevan time (5 p.m. Swiss time) RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan and Foreign Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu will sign “The Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Armenia and Turkey” and “The Protocol on Development of Relations between Armenia and Turkey” in the University of Zurich.
