The United States is returning to the UN Human Rights Council as an observer, Reuters reported.

US Chargé d'Affaires to the United Nations, Mark Cassayre, said that Secretary of State Antony Blinken will announce the news this morning.

“We intend to do so knowing that the most effective way to reform and improve the Council is to engage with it in a principled fashion,” the official said.
