Microsoft founder Bill Gates believes that US ex-president Donald Trump probably should be allowed back on social media, CNBC reported.
“I think at some point he probably will be allowed back on and probably should be allowed back on,” the Microsoft co-founder said in an interview that aired Thursday morning.
Trump was blocked on Twitter last month after an attempted storming of the Capitol on January 6 by supporters of the former president. Twitter said the former president's tweets pose the risk of further incitement to violence.
Gates predicted that the social media giants will find a way to let him come back, although his content could be flagged as false in many cases.
Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms have repeatedly added shortcuts to Trump's post-election messages, flagging them as misleading. Several posts have also been permanently deleted or blocked.
Meanwhile, Gates believes that people's interest in what Trump says may decrease somewhat in the coming years.
