“We will put the issue of ratifying the Armenian-Turkish Protocols on the agenda only after the Turkish Parliament discusses the documents and makes a decision,” Galust Sahakyan, Head of the parliamentary faction Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), told journalists October 12.

According to him, it is Turkey that should open the border and there remains nothing to be discussed. “The Turkish Parliament should discuss and decide whether they will open the border or not. Afterwards Armenian side should think of what to do next,” he said.

“There can be no winners or losers in politics. What we have is just an outcome. The basis of all the Armenian-Turkish agreements is to draw the process to their logical end within a reasonable timeframe.”

He stressed that Armenia will leave the negotiating table once Turkey makes an attempt “to go beyond the agreed framework.” “At least the RPA faction will vote in the National Assembly for the ratification of the Protocols if everything follows previously set scenario,” Sahakyan said.
