The United States Customs and Border Protection detained 171 thousand migrants at the US-Mexico border in March, a record high since 2006, The Washington Post reported.
More than 18 thousand minors were detained at the border last month, up 99 percent from the number of migrant children detained in February.
In addition, 53 thousand people were detained who tried to cross the US border with their families.
