South Korean President Moon Jae-in has ordered officials to consider filing a complaint with an international court over Japan's decision to drain water at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in the Pacific Ocean, Reuters reported.

Japan has revealed plans to dump more than 1 million tons of contaminated water from nuclear power plants damaged by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami into the ocean. South Korea vigorously protested this decision, summoning Tokyo's ambassador to Seoul, Koichi Aiboshi, to the MFA, and convening an emergency intra-agency meeting to work out a response.

A spokesman for President noted that Moon Jae-in called for exploring ways to appeal Japan's decision to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.
