British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancée Carrie Symonds got married the day before, May 29, in a small private ceremony in London, Associated Press reported.

Johnson's office declined to comment on media reports.

According to British media reports, many of Johnson's Downing Street office staff were unaware of the planned wedding.

In accordance with the coronavirus restrictions in the UK, up to 30 people can attend weddings.

Johnson, 56, and Symonds, 33, an environmental activist, announced their engagement in February 2020. The marriage will be the first for Symonds and the third for Johnson, who has five other children from a previous relationship.
