YEREVAN. - Armenian ex-ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan, when asked by Aravot daily about his attitude towards the release of prisoners whom he never came to call political, said that he appreciates the amnesty.
“In general I appreciate humane approach. It makes political processes more interesting and acute. Actually there are challenges of war and those of peacetime. In certain cases peacetime challenges appear more profound, since one does not see obvious threats and eventually ends up stagnating, whereas stagnation is extremely dangerous for the man and society. Perhaps this is the first indication of our new-born struggle against stagnation.”
