Turkish President Abdullah Gul in an interview with French L’Express stated Turkey was not pressurized agreeing to the Armenia-Turkey rapprochement, Turkish news agency Anadolu reports.

“Nobody exerted pressure on Turkey to normalize relations with Armenia. Frozen conflicts are very dangerous, as they may escalate into military activities at any moment. We witnessed piteous development of events in the Russian-Georgian conflict,” Gul noted.

Strained mutual relations with Turkey (border closing and diplomatic break) started in 1993 because of Armenia’s demand to recognize the fact of Armenian Genocide and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by Turkey, the agency informs.
