Armenia should ratify the Protocols first on the condition, that if Turkey does not follow the lead of Armenia within next two months, the Protocols will be nullified, ANC representative Davit Shahnazaryan stated at the October 16 press conference.

According to him, the process will exert pressure on the Turkish Parliament, otherwise it might be assumed that Armenian and Turkish authorities agreed on linking Armenia-Turkey rapprochement with Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Turkey will ratify the documents solely after the fulfillment of its demands on Karabakh conflict, he assured. “There is no single official in Turkey who slipped over this matter,” Davit Shahnazaryan outlined. Protocols are not aimed at normalizing Armenia-Turkey relations. “The tension between the two states’ relations today is greater than ever,” Shahnazaryan noted.
