Launching the legal procedure for clarification of the circumstances behind the capture of Armenian servicemen is a necessity, not the whim of a certain person. Eduard Aghajanyan, a member of the majority "Civil Contract" Faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia and Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, stated this Friday during the traditional press briefings at the NA.

According to the MP, the issue needs to be considered within the scope of a legal procedure.

“We need to understand that we are living in a legal state, and if necessary, certain legal procedures need to be implemented in any case. The public and competent bodies need to be properly informed about the circumstances behind the capture of our compatriots,” Aghajanyan clarified.

In his speech in parliament on Nov. 17, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan declared the need for investigation into each case of capture of an Armenian serviceman, adding that he is certain that the military statute clearly lays down the cases in which capture may be considered a crime and in which cases it may not be considered a crime.
