YEREVAN. - The Armenian government will consider a proposal by Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan to provide a pianist and composer Tigran Hamasyan determent from compulsory military service on Thursday.

Hamasyan studied at musical school № 1 in Gyumri and continued his education at the music schools after Mirzoyan and Tchaikovsky in Yerevan. Hamasyan is the winner of several international competitions and performed with such stars as Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, John Patitucci.

Despite Hamasyan’s family has been living in the U.S. since 2003, he is a citizen of Armenia and performs under the Armenian flag at all competitions.
