October 21, 2009 Turkish Government will introduce Oct. 10 signed Armenia-Turkey Protocols for the Parliament discussion. The documents will be presented by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. Oppositional forces in the Turkish Grand National Assembly announced they will vote against the Protocols’ ratification.

The Leader of the Nationalist Movement Party Devlet Bahceli stated, that official Ankara deciding to settle relations with Armenia, “neglected interests of fraternal Azerbaijan.” Another powerful oppositional force-Republican Party, holding 23% parliamentary seats out of 550, intends to vote against the Protocols’ ratification.

Nevertheless, leading Justice and Development Party headed by the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan seats are sufficient for voting for the documents’ and having them ratified. Most Turkish analysts do not rule out that Justice and Development Party MPs will only vote for the Protocol on Armenia-Turkey diplomatic relations’ establishment, whereas the other Protocol on development of bilateral relations will fail.
