Streaming service Netflix announced that it lost 200,000 paid subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, CNBC reported.

The company's shares reportedly tumbled more than 25% in after-hours trading after it notified shareholders in a letter on April 19 of its first-quarter results.

The number of paid subscribers of the service worldwide has decreased to about 222 million. The last time Netflix announced the loss of users in October 2011. According to the company's forecast, in the second quarter, losses will amount to another 2 million such subscribers.
