Smartphone manufacturers will abandon the form factor that is familiar today with the advent of 6G networks. About this, with reference to the words of the head of Nokia Pekka Lundmark, RIA Novosti reported.

Lundmark believes that this will happen by 2030.

Making a loud statement, Nokia is based on the experience of the past years. So, according to Lundmark, in the 2000s, with the advent of 3G, the mobile communications industry was already undergoing radical changes. Although RIA does not specify what exactly is meant by this, it may suggest a period in which smartphones with touch screens began to supplant push-button devices. The same radical changes, the newspaper writes, await the industry with the advent of 5G, and after - 6G.

3G in the 2000s made possible the smartphone itself, which over the decade canceled many segments of electronics that seemed to be extremely successful and in demand on the market.

The publication notes that, most likely, with the advent of 6G, smartphones will finally give way to AR and VR accessories, and then to cyber technologies. In the latter case, we mean implants like NFC chips, which are already being implanted under the skin of people today.
