YEREVAN. – The rumors that Ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Charles Lonsdale’s diplomatic mission will not be prolonged because of marriage with Armenian employee do not correspond to reality.
“The mission of the Ambassador lasts for three or four years. He prolonged his stay for a year in 2010. Thus information is incorrect,” head of Press and Public Affairs Section of the Embassy, spouse of the
Ambassador Maria Sadoyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Lonsdale will complete his diplomatic mission in December. Jonathan James Aves and his wife Katherine Jane Leach will be appointed new Ambassadors to Armenia. The UK Embassy also commented on information published in Daily Mail in connection to the new Ambassadors’ appointment in Armenia. According to the newspaper, Britain’s FM appoints married couples as practice of joint appointment is successful one. Besides Armenia, Britain has couple of Ambassadors in Zambia.
