The economic situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the United States and allies has deteriorated significantly, UN humanitarian coordinator in Afghanistan Ramiz Alakbarov told RIA Novosti.
Answering a question about whether the change of power in Afghanistan somehow affected the difficult humanitarian situation in the country, Alakbarov said that over the past year, they have had an economic deterioration, first of all.
According to him, here is no functioning banking system, no functioning, well-connected economy.
Everything is interrupted. In this regard, there is a decline, he said.
As Alakbarov noted, the lack of economic activity, the basic economy leads to an increase in the burden on the humanitarian sector.
According to the coordinator, in general, the international presence in Afghanistan has significantly decreased compared to what it was a year ago. The volume of foreign aid is much less. Of course, due to all these factors, the situation has deteriorated significantly compared to the previous year, he added.
