In Armenia, after the entry into legal force of the administrative act of imposing a fine for underfilling at gas stations, the fined stations within three days, in a visible place for the driver should be posted a plate on the fine of the gas station for underfilling. This was announced by one of the authors of the legislative initiative Tsovinar Vardanyan, MP from the ruling Civil Contract Party, at the sitting of the parliamentary standing committee on economic issues in the National Assembly today.

The amendments, according to the deputy, will be more of preventive nature. Given such a penalty, business entities, according to the parliamentarian, will be more vigilant.

"Discussions on this initiative were conducted both with the Government, and with businessmen, who responded positively to the proposed changes," said the deputy.

The sign will be posted for one month, and its intentional removal will be punishable by a fine. From the day the torn down sign is found, it will be posted again, and again for one month. At the same time, each petrol station will have a QR-code, which will allow citizens to get full information about the checks carried out earlier.

"This is an instrument of public control, with the help of which the clients will be able to get full and valid information about the activity of this or that entrepreneur," explained Vardanyan.

Besides, according to the current provision, the fine formed as a result of underfilling is about 500 thousand drams. In this regard, it was suggested to introduce a more proportional principle. So, a fixed fine of 200 thousand drams and 0,5% of the total turnover in a given quarter prior to the day of the violation will be established.

In turn, Head of the Coordination Office of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office Artur Asoyan said that the government's preliminary position on the draft is quite positive. He also said that during the first half of 2022, 80 inspections were conducted and 5 violations on underfilling were revealed.

After relatively short discussions the legislative initiative received a positive conclusion of the parliamentary commission.
