A man has been killed in India for drinking alcohol and chewing tobacco near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. India Today reports that two members of the Nihang Sikhs are suspected of the murder.

According to the source, the man was walking down the street when two Sikhs attacked him with swords. They stabbed him in the chest and left him bleeding in the market area.

The crime was captured by a surveillance camera. The deceased was identified as Harmanjit Singh.

Police said a preliminary check showed that the victim was intoxicated and began chewing tobacco that had been stitched into his hand. An attempt by the Sikhs to reason with him failed, resulting in a fight.

The Amritsar police also stated that those accused of the crime have been identified and will be detained soon.  However, several people witnessed the crime, but none of them called the police station to report the incident.

According to the police, Harmanjeet Singh's body lay on the ground all night and was found only in the morning.
