The information vacuum is the biggest factor increasing the suffering of relatives. But on the other hand, unverified quick listings create a bigger problem. The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Kristinne Grigoryan, announced this during Monday’s Facebook press conference of the RFE/RL Armenian Service—and with respect to the aftermath of the recent Azerbaijani military aggression against Armenia.

"Our conclusion is that the MOD should have an active means of communication where people can apply and get the information at that moment about their relatives. That communication is very important. This is an essential need, a vacuum cannot be created," said Grigoryan.

And to the remark that even though a long time has already passed since the aforesaid military aggression, the lists of neither of the Armenian casualties nor of the wounded nor of the detainees have been publicized yet by Armenia, the ombudswoman responded. "The numbers of the fallen servicemen that are publicized, maybe it is worth publicizing their names—with a list. But I don't rule out that even among those numbers there will be persons whom the MOD will have difficulties in identifying, and it would be more correct not to publicize in order to keep people away from suffering. But it is necessary to establish contact, create communication with these persons, their families."
