In London, there were plans to build a "death pyramid" that could hold millions of bodies, writes LADBible. The idea belonged to an architect who lived in the 19th century, but he never implemented his plan.
Architect Thomas Wilson developed his idea in the 1800s and chose a site in the city where he could erect the facility. According to the author of the project, the pyramid was supposed to solve the problem of the lack of space in cemeteries.
"Not many centuries will pass away before it will not only be completely filled, but that another one will be required," the architect assured.
The pyramid was to consist of granite blocks and have a staircase leading to an obelisk and an astronomical observatory at the top. The project cost £7 million, which was too high a price for that time, so the London City Council rejected Wilson's idea.
