Birkenstock sandals, which American entrepreneur and Apple founder Steve Jobs (1955-2011) wore in the 1970s and 1980s, were sold at auction at the auction house Julien's Auctions for more than $ 200 thousand - almost three times higher than the presale estimate.
According to the organization, the lot was sold for $218,700 with a presale estimate of $60,000 to $80,000. Along with the sandals with a hammer went shoe entrepreneur in the form of token NFT.
Jobs wore these sandals at a key time for the creation of Apple, when in 1976 he and Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) began developing the Apple computer in a garage in Los Altos, California.
According to Julien's Auctions, the sandals were rescued from the trash can by Mark Schaeff, Jobs' house manager.
The auction house added that the sandals remained in good condition despite the wear and tear. The shoes still have Jobs' footprint, which has formed over many years of wear. The rubber sole of the sandals is also worn.
Jobs' sandals were also exhibited at several shows in Italy, Germany, and the United States over a five-year period.
