Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike suggested wearing a turtleneck this winter to keep warm and save electricity at the same time, reports The Guardian.

According to the Japanese official, wearing a sweater with a high collar will help reduce energy costs.

"I'm wearing a turtleneck myself and wearing a scarf also keeps you warm. This will save electricity," Koike pointed out.

The governor also added that wearing turtlenecks is what will solve the winter energy crisis.

As an example, Koike mentioned French President Emmanuel Macron, who supports the trend of wearing turtlenecks in the cold.
