YEREVAN.- Vic Darchinyan dismissed press reports saying he handed over his champion’s belt to President Serzh Sargsyan in return for a territory to construct a sports school.

After winning IBO title, Vic Darchinyan met with journalists on Friday to comment on the bout against Evans Mbamba and dismiss numerous rumors.

“I handed over my belt to President Sargsyan to express my gratitude for his presence at the fight and sponsoring the event but not for getting a territory for a sports school. Only after learning about President’s participation and assistance international federation gave a permission to hold the fight in Armenia,” Darchinyan explained.

As regards a sports school, famous boxer said he will purchase the territory at a cheaper cost to build a boxing school for children in Yerevan. He also stressed that U.S. experts will be invited to build the school.
