The United States imposed sanctions against Iranian officials, including the attorney general and key military officials, IRI reported.
The U.S. Treasury Department said it had imposed sanctions on Iranian Attorney General Mohammad Montazeri, accusing him of ordering courts to impose harsh sentences on many people arrested during the protests in September.
Washington also imposed sanctions on two high-ranking Basij officials and two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials.
