In the U.S., a woman became a crew member of the M1A2 Abrams tank for the first time, Military Times reported.

According to the publication, Sgt. Cinthia Ramirez completed her tank gunnery course in early December and joined the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.

Before that she served as a driver, loader operator and gunner. The publication notes that Ramirez's appointment was another step toward gender integration of women in combat units of the U.S. Army.
