Uruguayan MP Rafael Michelini proposed to include in the state budget expenditures the establishment of an Armenian Genocide museum, which shall operate in a state-allocated building and have a Genocide Research Center, asbarez.com informs.

The MP noted that his motion must be included in the agenda of the parliament’s next session. Michelini informed about this development during a conference jointly organized by the Uruguay-Armenia Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Committee and the Armenian Cause Committee of South America.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, “I believe Nagorno-Karabakh should be independent and, in time, unite with Armenia. This is the only way to resolve the issue,” Uruguayan FM Luis Almagro had said at a recent Uruguayan parliamentary conference on Armenia-Uruguay relations.

Almagro had stated also that Karabakh is a historic part of Armenia and that Uruguay currently studies the case to formally recognize that state.
