Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Warsaw has offered to accept former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for treatment in the country, he said at a press conference at the EU summit.

"Poland has initiated a proposal to the Georgian government to send former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili for treatment in Poland," he said.

Georgian authorities had earlier promised that the country's ex-president Mikhail Saakashvili would not be amnestied. Chairman of the ruling party "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" Irakli Kobakhidze said that Georgian Parliament will not pass a law on amnesty for the politician.

According to him, the amnesty law cannot be adapted to one particular person.

On February 6, the court refused former President Mikheil Saakashvili's request to postpone his sentence and release him on health grounds. The politician called this decision a death sentence.
