Representatives of the Omaezaki branch of the Japanese Coast Guard told RIA Novosti that they do not yet know what is a large metal ball found Tuesday morning on the shore of Enshuhama Beach in Shizuoka Prefecture.

"We do not yet know what the object is," the department commented to RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Daiichi TV reported that a ball about 1.5 meters in diameter, presumably made of metal, was found in the morning on the shore in the Tsuboi district of Namamatsu. The police were called by a local resident to report the find.

Police officers who arrived on the scene restricted access to the beach. Photos of the balloon were also sent to experts at the Japan Self-Defense Force and the Coast Guard.
