The British chargé d'affaires was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry to protest against the continuation of unfounded accusations by the British authorities against the country, Mehr reported.

"The head of the Third Department of Western Europe of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the baseless claims are a continuation of the Iranophobic policy and called for an end to this unfriendly approach of the British government," Iranian media reported.

Commenting on the new sanctions imposed by Britain against the IRI, the Iranian diplomat criticized the British government for cruel discrimination and atrocities against immigrants and Muslims, as well as for transferring refugees to Rwanda, Mehr noted.

"Over the past four decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown that it will not succumb to foreign pressure and, accordingly, will soon announce a response to the British regime's sanctions," the agency quoted the head of the IRI Foreign Office as saying.

Earlier, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly summoned a senior Iranian diplomat to Britain over alleged threats to London-based anti-Iranian media.

The British government also announced new sanctions against Iran, targeting three Iranian judges, three members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and two regional governors, an update on a British government website showed Monday.

In turn, the EU on Monday imposed sanctions against two organizations and 32 Iranian citizens.

The Islamic Republic of Iran sees the Western accusations as part of increased pressure to give in to the West's excessive demands in the nuclear negotiations, the media stresses.
