Eight earthquakes occurred in eastern Tajikistan on Thursday, no casualties and destruction were registered, the country's Emergency Situations Committee said in an official statement.

"The first tremors occurred at 05.37 local time, the epicenter of the earthquake was 67 kilometers west of the center of Murghab district in eastern Tajikistan, 400 kilometers southeast of Dushanbe and 30 kilometers east of Sarez Lake. The magnitude at the epicenter was 6.8 and the depth was 20.5 kilometers," the document said.

The earthquake measured magnitude 5-6 in Khorog and 2-3 in Dushanbe. No casualties or destructions were registered.
