The declassification request specifically addresses information related to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, in China. The document points to a potential link between research conducted there and the outbreak of COVID-19, which the World Health Organization declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020.

US intelligence agencies disagree on whether the virus was leaked in a lab or whether it passed from animals to humans.
