Police said seven people were injured in a shooting at a Kansas nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning, and two were rushed to hospital due to injuries sustained as a result of a stampede, The Associated Press reports.

The shooting took place around 1 am at the City Nightz nightclub on North Washington Street, Wichita Police Lieutenant Aaron Moses said during a press conference at the scene.

The injured are men and women between the ages of 21 and 34. A 30-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were injured in the stampede.

According to Moses, a man who police believe was one of the shooters was taken into custody.
