TEHRAN.- The recent elections in Tunisia arouse enthusiasm among the local residents, Jalila Fredj, reporter of Tunisia-based El Fejr newspaper told the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

According to her, now people have exactly what they desired to. “There are many changes. For instance, I could not wear a headscarf when I went to the university. Meanwhile, it is my right and I can do it now,” she said.

The Tunisian journalist stressed the situation in the country is calm and local residents are getting ready for a tourist season.

“It is even safer than before. Tourism is resuming as Tunisia is now known as the first Arab country which gained victory over dictatorship and gave a signal to other states,” Jalila Fredj stressed.

Asked whether new authorities are likely to establish dictatorship just as previous leadership did, the reporter stressed that whoever comes to power “he will not be as bad as Ben Ali was.”

Tunisia and Armenia participated in the 18th International Exhibition of Press and News Agencies held in Tehran.
