RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan is on a visit to the United States, where the Armtech-2009 business forum has opened today. The press service of the RA Government told NEWS.am that the Armenian Premier visited Stanford University and the SLAC Center. Premier T. Sargsyan also visited the laboratories and held meetings with members of the Armenian Students’ Union at Stanford University.

The Armenian Premier answered the students’ questions, most of them concerning Armenia’s competitiveness, infrastructure development problems, new economic processes in case the Armenian-Turkish border is reopened.

T. Sargsyan also visited the Sequoia Capitals Company, where he met with the company managers. The Armenian Premier also visited the UC Berkeley School of Information and met with AnnaLee Saxenian, Professor and the Dean of the UC Berkeley School of Information, and the teaching staff.

Tigran Sargsyan also made a speech at the conference on Armenia’s competitiveness agenda, which discussed the Armenian Government’s anti-crisis measures. “Our strategy of overcoming the crisis has two fundamental components. The first is short- and long-term measures to ease the crisis and promote economy, as well as commit the to selective on-budget expenditures. The crisis exposed the weak points of the Armenian economy, which we are trying to overcome. The crisis also showed our potential. The second components of our anti-crisis program is investing in the future and creating new conditions for cooperation,” Tigran Sargsyan said.

Following the conference the Armenian Premier left for San Jose to attend the Armtech-2009 forum.
